I enjoy the smell, the sight, the feel of working with wood. I search for trees that have been downed, anticipating the beauty hidden to the casual observer. The turning process allows me to embrace any flaws as part of the natural beauty and uniqueness of the piece. It is the same process I used as a psychotherapist, aiding the individual in allowing their pain to enhance their lives. So for me, turning wood, is a continuation of seeking beauty in imperfections.
